Trans-conjunctival standard vitrectomy

Drpramodbhande1
Dr Promod S. Bhende - Senior Vitreoretinal Consultant performed the 25 Gauge Trans-conjunctival standard vitrectomy procedure successfully  for the first time at Sankara Nethralaya. Vitrectomy surgery using a 25G instrument is considered as a 'sutureless' vitrectomy procedure as  it needs only about 0.50mm incision compared to a surgery using 20G instrument, which needs about 0.90mm, thus providing a quicker recovery for the  patients compared to the 20G technique. This advancement in the vitrectomy procedure began on 28th November 2005. However, not all patients are found suitable for surgery using this 25G procedure.
